Cracking Concepts #4: Wish Fulfilment
One of the reasons we like going to the movies is to watch characters do what we wish we could do.
In Big, a young boy yearns to be grown up and his wish comes true
In Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, the charismatic lead character has the chutzpah to blow off school for the day.
In Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, a guy takes advantage of technology that allows him to erase the pain of a broken heart.
As a screenwriter, you’re a genie, a fairy godmother and a guardian angel. You can grant wishes, cast spells and make dreams come true. Exercise that power!
Idea starters:
What is the one thing you’d love to have more than anything in the world?
What would you love to be able to do that you can’t do?
What would you like to be able to undo?
What extra power do you wish you had?
What technology do you wish was available (not for everyone, just you)?
What power do you wish you had that would make love (or sex at least) a whole lot easier?
What power would be fun to have for a while but painful if you couldn’t return to normality?
